Lesson 2.2

Transferring Your Pattern onto the Fabric

In this short lesson, you will learn how to transfer the four practice figures onto your mounted embroidery fabric. Using a large book or box to support the printed pattern beneath the frame, you will trace the design with a pencil and ruler, preparing it for the next practical lesson.

Materials to Prepare

  • Embroidery frame with mounted fabric

  • Printed pattern with the four practice figures

  • Large book or box

  • Pencil

  • Ruler

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Support the printed pattern beneath your embroidery frame.

  • Position the pattern close to the fabric for clear tracing.

  • Transfer all four figures using a pencil and ruler.

  • Prepare your fabric for the next embroidery exercise.

Your Practice

Place the printed pattern on a large book or box, then slide it beneath your embroidery frame. Adjust its position so you can clearly see the figures through the fabric.

Trace all four figures with a pencil, using a ruler for the straight lines. Check that each figure is complete and clearly marked before you begin embroidering.
