Lesson 14.3

Aari Leaf Embroidery: Row Beading and Beaded Outline

In this lesson, you will revisit row beading using the Aari technique. You will draw veins inside the leaf to guide the bead placement and fill one section of the motif. Once the filling is complete, you will begin outlining the leaf with beads to define its shape.

Materials to Prepare

  • Embroidery frame with your leaf motif in progress

  • Lunéville hook

  • Embroidery thread

  • Loose beads

  • Pencil suitable for marking your fabric

  • Soft pad for holding the beads

  • Scissors

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Draw vein guidelines inside a leaf.

  • Apply the row beading technique practised earlier.

  • Fill one section while leaving the other unfilled.

  • Follow the leaf’s contour with beads.

Your Practice

Keep the front of the fabric facing you and draw veins inside the leaf as demonstrated.

Use these lines to guide your row beading, filling only one section of the leaf. Follow the placement and securing method practised in earlier lessons.

Once the selected section is filled, begin embroidering the leaf’s outline with beads, following the contour carefully.
