Lesson 13.2

Aari Daisy Embroidery: Filling the Final Petal with Pearls

In this lesson, you will fill the last remaining daisy petal with larger pearls using the Aari technique. By combining different pearl colours, you will create a decorative contrast with the surrounding sequin petals and explore another way to personalise your flower.

Materials to Prepare

  • Embroidery frame with your daisy motif in progress

  • Lunéville hook

  • Embroidery thread

  • Larger pearls in different colours

  • Soft pad for holding the pearls

  • Scissors

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Apply larger pearls using the Aari technique.

  • Combine pearl colours within one petal.

  • Arrange the filling to follow the petal’s shape.

  • Create contrast between pearl and sequin textures.

Your Practice

Keep the front of the fabric facing you and prepare your larger pearls. Following the demonstration, fill the final petal using your chosen colours.

Pay attention to the placement of the pearls within the outline. Review the completed petal alongside the sequin-filled petals and observe how the different materials change the flower’s appearance.
