Lesson 6.2
Second Feather: Final Sequin Filling and Pearl Stem
In this final lesson, you will fill the remaining feather sections and finish the stem. You will combine sequin filling with beaded or bugle outlines, add stones for contrast and select progressively smaller beads as the stem narrows.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
Outline the remaining feather sections.
Alternate sequin colours within an enclosed shape.
Highlight a pointed edge with a bead.
Combine sequins and stones inside a beaded outline.
Create a tapered stem using pearls and smaller beads.

Sequins in your chosen colours
Beads and bugle beads

Larger pearls and smaller beads for the stem

Your Practice
Outline the last large section, then begin filling it with sequins, alternating colours. Add a bead to emphasise the edge and continue downwards, keeping the sequins within the outline.
Follow the stem with plain stitches to reach the next section. Outline it with beads or bugles, then fill the interior with sequins and stones. Complete the remaining edge with beads.
Finish the feather’s stem with larger pearls, switching to smaller beads as it narrows. Check the completed design and secure the remaining threads.
